About

Diskotopia is now a record label. In spring 2011 we put out our first two releases, a collaborative release by A Taut Line and Hong Kong In The 60s, followed very swiftly by a hot new EP from BD1982. Throughout 2011 we will be releasing lots of music from artists based in Japan, the UK, and the USA, with remixes from artists you know, and some exciting up-and-coming ones. As has always been the case, Diskotopia art-direction will be handled by our friends and partners at Neithercorp.

History

For those new to Diskotopia, we’ve been DJing and running events in Tokyo and Osaka for over 5 years.

Diskotopia residents Matt Lyne (A Taut Line), BD1982 and Am Rhein drop an eclectic, all-over-the-shop mix of dub-techno, dubstep, UK funky and bass, through disco & acid house, leftfield electronica, chicago post-rock, 80s groove, and basically anything else that excites us.

Over the years Diskotopia have hosted/organised events with/performed at/guested alongside:

James Murphy, M.I.A, Hot Chip, Modeselektor, Optimo, Hudson Mohawke, Mary Anne Hobbs, Holy Ghost!, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ivan Smagghe, Rory Phillips, CSS, The Presets, Shinichi Osawa, Mice Parade, Hexstatic, Jahcoozi, Allez Allez, Horrors, Swayzak, Cazals, Santiago Salazar, Tramp!, Moving Units, Vice Magazine, Puppetmastaz, Chop Shop London, Numbers Tokyo, 80Kidz, Goth-Trad, Tuttle, and many many more…

From the beginning, the best selection of tunes in Japan has always been coupled with the fantastic visual and design work from Neithercorp and Neither Optics.
